Anyone who’d Start Learning Japanese, would quickly realize that this language doesn’t live without hieroglyphs. The faster you master Japanese kanji, the easier your further studies will be. However, mastering kanji might seem to be very hard, especially if you’re just a beginner. Kanji can even scare some people away from learning Japanese at all.
I’ve started To Study Japanese in 2008, and of course, I’ve encountered numerous problems with kanji. Little by little I managed to find some ways to learn them faster and more easily. I cannot say for sure that all of these methods will be suitable for everyone, but they surely work, so you can pick the ones you like most and modify them to your needs.
These methods were developed when Studying Japanese language, but I think they can be helpful for those who study Chinese as well.
1. Throw away all cards
Don’t make any paper cards and shuffle them. By doing so you may learn some stand-alone kanji, their meaning and readings, but that knowledge will be of little use for you. Instead of messing with cards try to learn every new kanji as a part of different words. Find 3-5 words where the new kanji is used in different positions, read them aloud and write down several times. Try to combine those words with the ones you already know
